Geothermal pools

The lagoon’s geothermal waters flow from Bjarnarflag power station, starting at 130°C before settling at a comfortable 36-40°C. Packed with minerals and naturally bacteria-resistant, the alkaline water is great for bathing, with sulfur known to benefit respiratory health and skin.

Steam bath at Myvatn lake

Steam baths

Steam rises naturally from the ground, with temperature and humidity dancing to the weather’s tune—typically 45°C with nearly 100% humidity. Relax with a view of Lake Myvatn through panoramic windows, cool off under an outdoor shower, and stretch, breathe, and soak like a true Icelander!

Came with my wife. Brought our own water shoes which was smart—bottom is a little slippery in places. Pools are big enough so you don’t feel cramped. Overall, relaxing and beautiful.

Visited with my parents and little sister. Pools are BEAUTIFUL, the blue color is real. Only thing is, there are random hot/cold spots, so my sister kept squealing every time she found one. Changing area was a bit of a zoo by 5pm. Staff were helpful though.

Came with friends and had a blast. The bottom of the pool feels squishy, which is weird at first but kinda nice. Loved the views—mountains and all that. We stayed for hours and didn’t want to leave.

Came solo and honestly, it was so peaceful. Sat in the far corner and just zoned out for an hour. The swim-up bar was a nice touch, even if my drink was a bit watery. Will come again.

Been wanting to visit these baths for YEARS and finally dragged my boyfriend here for my bday. Weather was COLD but the water was suuuper toasty—like, almost too hot in some spots, but after a while I started hunting for those little cooler patches. Staff were really friendly and showed us how to work the lockers (honestly I always struggle with those digital ones). The sulfur smell hits you at first but you get used to it after like 10 min. Swim-up bar was coool but wish the drinks were a bit cheaper. Overall, def worth it, even tho my hair smelled weird for days.
